Your SOC membership entitles you to attend meetings anywhere in Scotland so if you find yourself away from home in another branch area, feel free to go along to any of the meetings. It is an excellent opportunity to meet new people. For details on how to join the SOC, please see the home page.
Indoor Branch Meetings 2011/2012
(Held at Stranraer Library, North Strand Street, Stranraer Tue 7.30pm).
- 11th Oct 2011: Mike Betts – After last year's talk about Ethiopia, we welcome Mike back to talk about "Bhutan, the unexplored east: monasteries and birds."
- 8th Nov 2011: Clive McKay – The SOC's Scottish Bird Records Coordinator talks about "visible migration and Birdtrack."
- 13th Dec 2011: Karl Munday - Karl, Senior Ranger at NTS Threave provides an insight into the wildlife of NTS Threave Estate.
- 10th Jan 2012: Members' Night & Social Evening.
- 7th Feb 2012: Gordon Yates – Gordon's annual visit is on the subject of "birdlife through 40 Pennine years."
- 13th Mar 2012: Derek McGinn – Birds of Western Australia.

Outdoor meetings have finished for the summer
- Wed 13th April: "Gaggles of Geese" at Wigtown - 6:00pm (evening only) - Wigtown Harbour hide (NX440548).
- Sat 7th May: Wood of Cree & Barclye Wood - 11:00am / 2:00pm (full day, morning or afternoon) - meet at RSPB Wood of Cree car park (NX380709).
- Wed 18th May: Glenwhan Gardens - 11:00am (morning only) - meet at Glenwhan car park (NX153586).
- Sat 4th June: Three Lochs - 11:00am / 2:00pm (full day, morning or afternoon) - meet at Three Lochs caravan site car park (NX272654).
- Wed 22nd June: Portpatrick to Dunskey Glen - 7:00pm (evening only) - meet at base of steps by public toilets in Portpatrick harbour (NW997542) - for those who are unable to manage the steps up the cliff there will be an option to car-share up to the Portpatrick Hotel after initial meet in harbour car park.
- Sun 3rd July: Cairngarroch Bay, Drummore - 2:00pm (afternoon only) - meet at Cailiness Road picnic site car park (NX141363).
